XP Manifest and UI look on Windows 7
(too old to reply)

I'm still using D7 and for years have included the XP Manifest which
modifies the user interface in both XP and Vista. I've just bought a
new computer with Windows 7 and my programs (and others) look drab -
obviously support for the XP Manifest has been dropped.

I've tried Googling for some sort of new manifest to use with Delphi
with no luck. Something's been changed and I don't know what it is. Can
someone give me a clue as how to put some pizazz back into the UI on
Windows 7? I know I can always use skins, but I'd like to avoid that
overhead (and hassle) if there's another way.

I do not think it has gone anywhere. At least I can see some of the old
XP control style and coloring etc. effects appear with my old apps also
on Win-7.
What effect exactly are you missing?

Maybe it's 64 bit. Are you using x32 or x64?

All of the extras are missing. The forms on my W7 x64 look just like the
forms at design time - none of the coloration, smaller buttons, stylized
border. And it's not just on my own programs.

On 7 manifest must be compiled in program resources.
Separate manifest file is not supported, as insecure.
